This single-use SMMS disposable gown incorporates a tie-back and waist feature for coverage and a secure fit. It’s also equipped with knitted cuffs, providing additional comfort and facilitating extended wear. This design is well-suited for a range of applications, including blood draws, suturing, work in pathology labs, and more.

SMMS stands for ‘Spunbond, Meltblown, Meltblown, Spunbond,’ indicating the structure of the fabric layers. Each layer is constructed from polypropylene. The fabric composition involves the hot rolling of two layers of spun-bond non-woven fabric with two intermediate layers of melt-blown non-woven fabric. Compared to SMS (Spunbond, Meltblown, Spunbond), an SMMS disposable gown has an additional layer that offers enhanced protection against liquid penetration.

This balance of thickness and fluid resistance makes the SMMS disposable gown a common choice for ANSI/AAMI Level 2 gowns, which are typically used for general purposes. The SMMS fabric can be combined with a layer of Polyethylene to further enhance its water resistance, providing even more protective features.
